Hillside Health

The personal approach to enhance your wellbeing

If you would like a better understanding of which foods can keep you healthy, then you may benefit from Nutritional Therapy. At Hillside Health, there is an emphasis on nutritionally dense whole foods.

I will show you how to make healthy (and equally delicious) meals and snacks that are tailored to your needs and dietary preferences. There are no fad diets or quick fixes – the approach is gradual – but most importantly, sustainable. Your specific health goals will be addressed through both dietary and lifestyle modifications that are realistic and achievable.

Changing your diet doesn’t have to be a difficult concept to digest; often small tweaks is all that is needed to improve how you feel. My approach moves away from restriction and focuses on ways to incorporate healthy foods into your diet in a simplistic and enjoyable way. Whether it is help and advice you need, or simply some motivation to keep on track, then give me a call to kick start your journey to a healthier body and mind.

Lisa Beumer

The beauty of Lisa’s counseling is that she meets you where you are and offers tweaks and adjustments for improvement, not wholesale changes that are hard to maintain. She understands that successful, lasting change must be done in consistent small steps that develop into a lifestyle change. Lisa does not believe in diets, but in slight modifications (nutritional tweaks) that gradually replace less healthy habits. The results are lasting.

I had been a fairly healthy eater but still wanted to lose a little weight, increase my energy and get more excited about our family meal planning (it was boring!). Lisa coached me on eliminating some of the hidden sugars in my current diet and suggested healthier replacements. She also gave me amazing, easy recipes for myself and my family – recipes for healthier alternatives for snacking before dinner (my previous downfall) as well as healthy but satisfying options for breakfast, lunch and family dinners. She even helped me with a shopping list so I can have ingredients on hand to make the transition easier.

Her greatest strength is her ability to tweak meals in an easy way that are much healthier but also incredibly satisfying – which is just as important! You never feel deprived and in fact can develop a much more positive relationship with food.
I highly recommend Lisa for any nutritional counseling. She’s very knowledgeable, passionate about what she does and a pleasure to communicate with.

Lisa Dabinett

Probably common to many families we had three people with very different nutritional needs and little bandwidth to do something different for each. Plus, while I “thought” I knew a lot from reading health articles about what to eat – we were not seeing the results we wanted.

Meeting with Lisa was very eye opening! I discovered my early teen son was probably not gaining the weight and muscle he wanted to because he was not getting enough carbs and was actually skipping breakfast more than I thought (funny what kids wont tell you, but are perfectly comfortable telling someone else!). As he craves variety, Lisa shared some delicious recipes for Asian cooking, which were way easier than I would of guessed! My daughter, who loves to bake, needed to get a healthier balance to which Lisa both shared “healthier” baking recipes as well as reviewed “better yet still delicious choices” with my daughter.

Lisa also helped us make brand substitutions and additions as opposed to massive changes, which I found easy to implement. I will definitely keep seeing Lisa and highly recommend her!
